JBU Hosts World-Renowned Photographers for Expo

SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK. (March 16, 2016) – John Brown University is partnering with Bedford Camera and Video to host a two-day Photo Video Expo on April 1-2 at JBU’s Siloam Springs Campus. The expo will feature two free lectures by world-renowned photographers Parish Kohanim and Andrew Hancock as well as interactive workshops and a trade show.

“We are thankful for the generous support of Bedford Camera and Video that allows our community to have access to these accomplished photographers,” said Kyle Agee, expo coordinator and JBU visual arts instructor. “It will be inspiring to hear stories and receive instruction from some of the greats of the field.”

Kohanim has been a commercial and fine art photographer for over 25 years and has repeatedly had his photographs featured on the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Forbes, Time and Newsweek. His first love is fine art photography, and he has a unique ability to capture the subtle beauty of life. His work also includes fashion, floral, portraits and landscapes, and he is the recipient of numerous Gold Addys, a Clio, and the 2003 One Show Design Award.

Hancock is an award-wining photojournalist, advertising and higher education photographer, and multimedia storyteller. He is a contributing photographer to Sports Illustrated, and his work has appeared on the cover of TIME Magazine and the front page of the New York Times. While he does substantial work in sports photography, his subjects and client base are broad, including performance equine, energy production, portraits and travel.

Konahim will begin the expo with a lecture at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 1 in JBU’s Cathedral of the Ozarks. On Saturday, expo attendees can participate in workshops in the Windgate Visual Arts Buildings with hands-on instruction from Kohanim, Hancock and eight other video and photography experts. An interactive tradeshow at Windgate Visual Arts West Gallery will highlight the latest in camera technology, equipment and trends, and the event will conclude with a talk from Hancock in the Cathedral at 5 p.m.

Evening lectures with Kohanim and Hancock are free and open to the public, but registration is required. Saturday workshops with Kohanim and Hancock are $40 each, while the other workshops are $20 each. For more information or to register, click here.
