SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK. (Jan. 14, 2016) – John Brown University presents Touch, Anoint, Heal: God with Us, a traveling art exhibit by Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA), at the Windgate Visual Arts West Gallery on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

“This exhibit is a call for artists to bring the touch of God down from the lofty ceiling of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel and into our corporeal reality,” said Cameron Anderson, president of CIVA.

The exhibit brings together the work of 30 artists from across the United States and Europe, with media forms including photography, painting, sculpture, pottery, fibers, digital and mixed media. An opening reception will be held from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Jan. 19, and the exhibit will be on display until February 15.

“It is a wonderful opportunity to see how so many highly acclaimed artists take on this theme. This is a powerful, moving and sometimes challenging collection of sacred artwork,” said JBU Gallery Director, Charles Peer. “I believe that if the viewer will spend some time with the artwork and be vulnerable to it, they will be blessed by its powerful message.”

The gallery is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. or by special arrangement. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public. For further information contact the JBU Department of Visual Arts at 479-238-8561.
