JBU Wins Shutout in Nebraska
Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 10, 2005) — The John Brown Golden Eagles defeated Concordia 6-0 Saturday in Seward, Neb. Senior Daniel Fleming scored two goals for the Golden Eagles (3-1), the first coming unassisted in the 4th minute. In the 9th minute, freshman Garrett Horton scored on a unique play in which JBU goalkeeper Glen Goodner punted the ball downfield and contributed the assist. Fleming scored his second goal in the 13th minute off an assist by Rodrigo Juliao, and John Brown took a 3-0 lead into halftime. Terry Andrew scored in the 56th minute, assisted by Griff Hanning , and Kyle Carter scored seven minutes later with an assist from Horton. Seth Hildebrant rounded out the scoring in the 82nd minute. The Golden Eagles recorded 29 shots-on-goal to the Bulldogs’ seven, with all of Concordia’s attempts coming in the second half. John Brown scored three goals on corner kick plays.
The Golden Eagles’ next game is Tuesday at 3:30 in Siloam Springs as they host Bethany (Kan.).
