JBU Women’s Basketball Releases 2005-2006 Schedule
Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 1, 2005) - The John Brown Golden Eagles released their 2005-2006 women’s basketball schedule Wednesday. The season opener is November 7 in Batesville against Lyon College. The Golden Eagles’ first home games are on November 18-19 when John Brown hosts Central Baptist and Philander Smith in the JBU Golden Eagles Classic. The schedule contains twelve non-conference and eighteen Sooner Athletic Conference games.
Regarding the schedule, head coach Jeff Soderquist said, “It’ll be a good test for us.” The first three games of the season are at Lyon and at the College of the Ozarks Classic in Point Lookout, Mo., against NAIA Division II powers Concordia (Neb.) and Tabor (Kan.). Other road games will be against Park (Mo.) and Hendrix, a formidable NCAA Division III opponent. John Brown will host NAIA top-15-ranked Columbia (Mo.) and NCAA Division II nationally-ranked Northeastern State (Okla.).
The conference schedule contains games against three top-25-ranked NAIA teams: Oklahoma City, Southern Nazarene, and Oklahoma Christian. The Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament is slated for March 2-7, 2006, in Shawnee, Okla., and the NAIA National Tournament will take place March 15-23 in Jackson, Tenn.
