JBU welcomes the largest incoming class in university history for 15-16 academic year.

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (August 25, 2015) – John Brown University will welcome 456 new students when classes start on Wednesday — the largest cohort of new students in the university’s history.

The number represents 17 percent growth over last year’s incoming class of 389.

“JBU continues to be an outstanding value for those looking to attend an excellent Christian university,” said Don Crandall, vice president for enrollment management. “Our top-ranked programs combined with extensive financial aid opportunities make us attractive to a wide variety of students and their parents.”

The new class, comprised of 364 freshman and 92 transfer students, brings students from across the country from Hawaii to Connecticut and across the world from countries like Thailand, Brazil, Switzerland and Kenya. In total, the incoming class represents students from 25 states and 17 countries and is 59 percent female and 41 percent male.

“I had the opportunity to meet a lot of freshman moving onto campus this weekend,” said Lucas Roebuck, chief communication officer. “These are bright students who want to serve others as teachers, engineers, nurses and filmmakers. Seeing this much potential world-changing awesomeness in one place is energizing. It’s a great time to be at JBU.”

The top ten majors represented in this class include: nursing, business administration, graphic design, elementary education, biology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, family and human services, kinesiology and psychology.

“I chose JBU because of the opportunities I have to learn both in Siloam Springs and around the world,” said incoming freshman Mackenzee Lance. “I want to be an immigration lawyer, and JBU’s international network of alumni and study abroad programs are huge resources for me as I study. I can’t wait to get started.”

John Brown University is a private Christian university, ranked No. 1 overall and a Best Value among Southern regional colleges by U.S. News. JBU enrolls more than 2,800 students from 42 states and 40 countries in its traditional undergraduate, graduate, degree completion and concurrent education programs.
