Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 21, 2005) - The John Brown men’s basketball team (17-10, 8-8 SAC) moved to .500 in the SAC as they beat the Oklahoma Baptist Bison, 68-52. The Golden Eagles recognized their four seniors, Ryan Woodson, Reyjavick De Gracia, Pat Smits, and Ty Sawyer in their last home game of the season.
The Bison opened up to an early lead until the Golden Eagles took it over for good at the 5:56 mark. The Golden Eagles climbed to a 40-26 lead to end the first half. OBU came to within nine in the second half, but that was the closest they could get to JBU. Reyjavick De Gracia had five field goals in a row to pull the Golden Eagles on top by 22 at the 6:22 mark. Turnovers by JBU late in the game kept the Bison closer than expected, but JBU was able to hold on to a 16 point lead to end the game.
Reyjavick De Gracia led the scoring for JBU with 24. The also had six rebounds and two blocked shots to bring him within four of a JBU record. Brandon Cole had 17, adding five more three-pointers to his total.
The men are on the road Thursday and Saturday to finish off their regular season play.
