SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK. (July 22, 2015) – John Brown University was recently recognized among the nation’s Colleges of Distinction via the Colleges of Distinction Online College Guide. JBU was recognized among 331 public and private institutions nationwide for excellence in learning initiatives like study abroad programs, service learning opportunities, learning communities, internships and other educational paradigms.
“Our educational philosophy of ‘Head, Heart, and Hand’ makes JBU unique,” said Lucas Roebuck, chief communications officer at JBU. “We have worked diligently to develop academic curriculum and extracurricular activities that not only educate the mind, but inspire hearts for God and cast a vision for students’ work to change lives.”
Colleges of Distinction members are institutions dedicated to enriching students through innovative learning opportunities. Institutions are nominated by high school counselors and educators based on four criteria: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes. Nominated institutions are also evaluated on freshman experience, general education curriculum, strategic plan, and alumni success and satisfaction measures.
“Colleges of Distinction provides more than just a ranking or a tally of test scores,” said Tyson Schritter, executive editor for Colleges of Distinction. “We identify colleges that offer every student an educationally rewarding experience and have earned a solid reputation for nurturing and serving their students across every measure.”
Since 1999, the Colleges of Distinction website and e-guidebook have recognized and honored schools throughout the U.S. for excellence in undergraduate-focused higher education. The
