Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 3, 2005) - The SAC #6 ranked JBU Golden Eagles men’s basketball (14-7, 5-5 SAC) squared off against the #7 ranked Wayland Baptist Pioneers Thursday night in Siloam Springs. Led by point guard Alex Terry, the JBU men pulled off the 72-65 win.
The Golden Eagles were looking for payback after losing to Wayland in Texas a month ago. JBU took a six point lead into halftime at 31-25. The Golden Eagles took their largest lead of the game of 8 with 6:40 left in the game. But the Pioneers hung in the game, tying it at 59-59 with 3:37 left on the clock. A key trey by Brandon Cole along with made free throws down the stretch kept the JBU men on top, and giving them the seven point victory.
Junior Alex Terry led the scoring for JBU with 19 and six assists. Brandon Cole was close behind with 14 and freshman Steve Briggs and senior Reyjavick De Gracia both contributed 13. De Gracia led in rebounds with eight.
The JBU men are back in action Saturday afternoon at 3:00 at home against Lubbock Christian.
