JBU ADVANCE PROGRAM OPENS OFFICE IN LITTLE ROCK

Siloam Springs, Ark (October 10, 1996) - Office space was leased last week by the Advance Program in North Little Rock at the Lakewood Village Mall on McCain Boulevard. In addition to offering classes all over northwest Arkansas and Fort Smith, the Advance Degree Completion Program will offer classes to working adults who live in and around Little Rock.

The Advance Degree Completion Program offers working adults with at least 60 hours of college credit the opportunity to earn a bachelor's degree in organizational management by taking classes one night a week for 18 months. With over 150 graduates from northwest Arkansas and Fort Smith, JBU officials felt that the timing was right for a move to Little Rock.

"The need for the Advance Program in the Little Rock area was evident at the first information session we held several weeks ago," explained Dr. J. Richard Ellis, associate professor of adult education and director of the JBU Advance Program. "We had 60 people show up who were interested in what the Advance Program has to offer.

Ellis, who has overseen the Advance Program's growth since its inception in the fall of 1993, recently hired Lisa Kelley as site director. Previously, Kelley worked for the continuing education office at the University of Arkansas and the University of Central Arkansas. Kelley earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock and a master's of education from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Since 1993, the Advance Program at JBU has enrolled approximately 350 students. Since opening in the fall of 1994, the Fort Smith Advance Program has enrolled over 100 students.

Those interested in the Advance Program may call 1-800-JBU-GRAD for more information.
