Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 20, 2005) - The John Brown University women’s basketball team (10-6, 2-3 SAC) added another W to the win column Thursday night when they faced the Northwestern Oklahoma State Lady Rangers (7-11, 0-6 SAC). With 13 three’s for the game, the Golden Eagles cruised to a 67-38 win.
The Lady Rangers led for the first nine minutes of the game, as the teams traded baskets keeping the game close. A three by junior Brooke Warder tied the game at 12 with 9:08 on the clock. The Golden Eagles took the lead on a fast break layup by sophomore Nancy Pierre to start a 15-1 run. The Golden Eagles led 31-19 at half. The second half was all JBU, with eight of the 13 three pointers being made in the half, as the Golden Eagles cruised to the 67-38 win.
Juniors Leslie Fanning and Brooke Warder led scoring with 15, both making five treys. Sophomore Ashley Wettengel added 13 points and eight rebounds. The Golden Eagles held the Lady Rangers to 28% shooting from the field and shot 40% themselves.
The women stay home Saturday to face University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at 6:00 p.m.
