JBU Unable to Handle Oklahoma Christian on the Road

Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 10, 2005) — The John Brown University women’s basketball team (8-5, 0-2 SAC) were on the road Saturday night facing Oklahoma Christian. The Golden Eagles saw two players foul out and a total of 23 team fouls, giving their opponent the chance to win the game at the free throw line. Oklahoma Christian made 26 of 32 free throws to get the win over JBU 65-50.

Junior Kendra McCormick led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 13. Sophomore Lesli Fanning was close behind with 12, all of her points coming from three pointers. Junior Alicia Baer also contributed 11 points and five assists. JBU shot 32% from the field, with their opponent shooting 36.5%. Free throws were the key to the game though, with JBU only shooting 16 total free throws and making 11 of those compared to Oklahoma Christian’s 26 made free throws.

The women travel to Texas this week to take on Lubbock Christian on Thursday and Wayland Baptist on Saturday. The Golden Eagles return home Thursday, January 20th to take on Northwestern Oklahoma at 6:00 p.m.
