John Brown Soccer Sees One Win, One Tie

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 9, 2004) — The John Brown University women and men’s soccer teams were at home Saturday against Oklahoma Christian for JBU’s Homecoming celebration. The women walked away with a 2-0 win, and the men’s game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Sophomore Kendra Rehner started the scoring for the JBU women off an assist from sophomore Nikki Ganter at the 20-minute mark of the first half. The Eagles went into half time with a 1-0 lead. Ganter scored the second goal for JBU off an assist from sophomore Amber Aparicio with 15 minutes left in the game. Goalkeeper Natalie Wall had five saves to keep Oklahoma Christian scoreless.

The Golden Eagle men’s team had a 1-0 halftime lead thanks to an unassisted goal by junior Seth Hildebrant. Hildebrant then assisted junior Kyle Carter for another goal in the second half. But Oklahoma Christian was able to score two goals in the second half to tie the game. No goals for scored in the first or second overtime to end the game in a tie.

The women will be in action again Tuesday at home against Northwest Oklahoma State. The men will be at the University of Science & Arts October 16th for their next game.
