Siloam Springs, Ark. (August 27, 2004) - The JBU Women’s Volleyball team started the season strong with two victories in the JBU Classic Tournament. The Golden Eagles played Williams Baptist College at 3:00 this afternoon, winning in three games. JBU had the opportunity to try various lineups and utilized every player on the team. At 7:00, JBU faced 19th ranked Taylor. After the Golden Eagles lost the first game 32-30, they dominated the next three games and won the match 3-1. Team leaders included Sophomore Tati Silva with 18 kills and 4 aces, Senior Meghann Wharton with 5 aces and 9 blocks, Junior Elisa Evans with 5 blocks, Sophomore Juliana Todescan with 39 assists, and Junior Christine Wells with 25 digs. The Golden Eagle’s victory tonight is an important step in the process in being recognized as an NAIA Top 25 team. In other action today, Bellevue beat both Bacone and Taylor in three games and Williams Baptist beat Bacone in three games.
