JBU's Walenciak Elected to National Board of Directors
Siloam Springs, Ark (October 29, 2001) - Joe Walenciak Ph.D., Chairman of John Brown University’s Division of Business and Graduate Business Studies, has been elected to serve on the National Board of Directors of the Christian Business Faculty Association (CBFA). Nominations and voting for this advisory position were held at the organization’s annual meeting in Chicago the third weekend of October.
Members of JBU’s division of business attended the conference held October 19-21, 2001 on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University near Chicago. Faculty included Mark Ahlseen, Don Balla, Sue Daugherty, Mike Kennelley, Gene King, John McCullough and Joe Walenciak.
In speaking of his new three-year position with CBFA, Walenciak says, “I’m excited and honored by this opportunity. The CBFA is unique. Unlike so many other professional organizations that are characterized by ego, politics and competition, this is a supportive group where members share best practices openly and want to see others succeed.” His goal is to help develop strategies for increasing the organization’s membership among Christian colleges and universities nationally and internationally.
Dr. Ed Ericson, JBU’s Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, speaks highly of Walenciak’s contributions. “Dr. Walenciak is a great example of servant leadership both to the students and the faculty of John Brown University. His election to the CBFA is a significant recognition of his many contributions to the academic community and an opportunity for him to continue his leadership efforts in a new and exciting arena. We here at JBU are very proud of the work Dr. Walenciak is doing and see this honor as richly deserved.”
Other JBU faculty participated in conference activities over the weekend as well. Ahlseen presented a paper entitled “Separation of School and State.” Balla moderated a session on “Best Practices in Information Technology.”
