JBU Professor Releases Book
Siloam Springs, Ark. (August 9, 2004) — Dr. Dan Lambert, associate professor of youth ministries at John Brown University, has recently released a new book with Zondervan Publishing. Teaching that Makes a Difference is for ministry practitioners and those training for youth ministry. The book is an introduction to biblical, holistic discipleship using a blend of contemporary culture and research. Chapters explore scripture scriptural mandates for holistic teaching, basic adolescent development, teaching/learning theory, curriculum development and evaluation. The book will be distributed in September of this year. “This book is a natural outgrowth of my passion, education and experience,” Lambert said. “My hope is that both future and current youth workers will be better equipped to make disciples of teenagers through Teaching that Makes a Difference.” Lambert earned his undergraduate degree in Christian Education from Fort Wayne Bible College, his master’s in Religious Education from Cincinnati Bible Seminary and a doctorate in Education from the University of Cincinnati. Upon completion of his doctorate, Lambert returned to Cincinnati Bible Seminary where he began a youth ministry major. The program grew from 35 students to 130 in four years. In 2000 he joined the Biblical Studies Division at JBU. In addition to his academic accomplishments, Lambert is a member of the National Association of Professors of Christian Education, the International Association for Study of Youth Ministry, and the Association of Youth Ministry Educators. He also serves as a general editor of Journal of Youth Ministry. He and his wife, Becky, have two daughters, Alexa, 15, and Caley, 13, and a son, Cameron, 10.
