Richardson trial close delayed by day of mourning

(June 8, 2004) — (Little Rock-AP) -- Lawyers for Nolan Richardson and the University of Arkansas won't deliver closing arguments in federal court this Friday as planned. The arguments to cap about a month of testimony in Richardson's discrimination case against the university will be rescheduled because federal courts will be closed Friday. President Bush has ordered a federal government holiday for the funeral of former President Reagan. Reagan died Saturday and will be buried Friday. Federal court clerk James McCormack says the holiday applies to federal courts, also. He said the hearing could be held earlier than Friday, as planned, or may be held next week. Richardson sued the university after he was fired from his job as Arkansas' head basketball coach.
