(June 4, 2004) - (Fayetteville-AP) -- Wal-Mart Stores is holding its annual shareholders meeting today on the University of Arkansas campus. At the Bentonville headquarters of the world's largest retailer yesterday, employees from all over the world were welcomed. The Wal-Mart cheer could be heard echoing through the hallways as store managers attended training sessions and met with corporate executives. More cheerleading is expected during today's meeting at Bud Walton Arena, but Wal-Mart often uses the event to address issues facing the retailer. Last year, chief executive Lee Scott used the forum to say the company will not tolerate unfair treatment of employees after a series of lawsuits alleging women weren't being promoted.
