Early voting begins today
(May 3, 2004) — (Little Rock-AP) -- Early voting for the May 18th primary begins throughout Arkansas today. Under a new law, Arkansas will have a uniform early voting schedule statewide during the two-week run-up to the primary. Runoffs, if necessary, will be June 8th. Among the key state races, U-S Senator Blanche Lincoln faces a little-known Democratic challenger, three Republicans square off for the right to face the winner this fall and two sitting appeals court judges vie for chief justice. In the only congressional primary, term-limited state Representative Marvin Parks of Greenbrier and Maumelle businessman Ed Garner duel for the Republican nomination to face incumbent Democrat Vic Snyder in the fall 2nd District race. Also, three state Senate races and 16 House seats will be decided in the primary.
