(April 29, 2004) - Surveyors from the Federal Emergency Management Administration will continue assessing flood damage in northern Arkansas counties today. Seven teams began work yesterday. Five teams are checking for infrastructure damage and two teams are recording damage to individual homes. The groups are expected to work through Saturday. Arkansas Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Jennifer Gordon said some teams have been slowed by still-flooded rural roads connecting the northern Arkansas counties. The teams will put together county reports and an overall report for Governor Mike Huckabee next week. Huckabee will then decide whether to ask for federal disaster assistance. Gordon said the state is waiting to see if federal funding is approved before giving state money to victims.
