JBU Sees Record Enrollment

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (October 9, 2014) - John Brown University now enrolls more than 2,800 students, according to the university’s “11th Day Report.” The start of the 2014-2015 academic year saw an 10 percent increase in students from the previous year and 905 more than a decade ago, a 46.5 percent increase.

“Our positive enrollment trends shows that even in times of financial stress, students and parents recognize the value of a quality education at a private Christian university,” said Don Crandall, vice president of enrollment. “We are doing well retaining the students we have and are pleased to welcome another incoming class with a strong academic profile.”

The incoming freshman class has an average ACT of 26 and average high school GPA of 3.65.

Traditional undergraduate, degree completion, graduate and concurrent students are all included in the total headcount.

                                      Traditional Undergraduates:  1,359

                                      Graduate School:  619

                                      Concurrent High School Students:  450


                                      Total Headcount:  2,850


This fall marked the beginning of the new pre-nursing program. The program attracted almost 40 new students to JBU. After receiving a unanimous prerequisite approval from the Arkansas State Boards of Nursing in Little Rock, JBU began recruiting students and named Dr. Ellen Odell Director of Nursing. 

“When I found out about JBU’s new pre-nursing program, God just opened all the doors for me to come,” said Cody Cassel, freshman pre-nursing major. “I'm excited to be part of this amazing program and to have our very own nursing building.”

JBU plans to begin construction on an estimated 20,000 square-foot nursing building in 2015.

Engineering remain the most popular undergraduate major on campus (133) Followed by graphic and web design (94), family and human services (79), early childhood education (71) and business administration (71). Organizational Management is the largest major for the Degree Completion Program and the Master of Business Administration has the largest enrollment for the Graduate program.
