"This was the week Johnny would have started reading..."

(March 30, 2004) — (Alread-AP) -- Teachers in the tiny Alread School District fear that a so far unsuccessful weeklong manhunt could hurt scores for standardized tests the students will be taking this week. State police and sheriff's deputies have been seeking two men wanted in the shooting of a trooper since March 22nd. The men also are wanted for questioning in the disappearance of an Alread couple. Alread schools reopened yesterday for the first time in a week. Some teachers worry students will do poorly on the Arkansas Benchmark Exams because they did not have last-minute review sessions. Math and science teacher Paul Guerin said he was saving a measurements lesson for this week so it would be fresh in students' minds.
