Potent form of meth showing up in NW Arkansas
(March 16, 2004) — (Rogers-AP) -- A new form of methamphetamine is popping up in Arkansas.
The drug -- called ``ice'' -- is a more potent form of meth and comes in the form of large crystals that are smoked in a pipe. Rogers police spokesman Kelly Cradduck says ``ice'' is to meth as crack is to cocaine.
Both varieties are highly addictive.
State officials say they already have more ``ice'' cases this year than they had all of last year.
Unlike regular meth, officials say most ``ice'' is not produced in the state. Police say the new drug is shipped from California. Police say few illegal labs in Arkansas can produce the drug.
