Battery plant to re-open in Grove

(March 4, 2004) - (Grove-AP) -- A northeastern Oklahoma battery manufacturing plant will reopen with up to 200 workers. The joint venture between EaglePicher Incorporated and Horizon Batteries Incorporated will be called EaglePicher Horizon. The companies announced yesterday they plan to invest several million dollars and restart production this fall. EaglePicher chief operating officer Mike Reed says the Grove plant will allow the company to increase production of batteries for the trucking industry and lift trucks.
