Argue welcomes masters' review

(February 23, 2004) — (Little Rock-AP) -- Senator Jim Argue of Little Rock, who chairs the Senate Education Committee, says he believes the special masters in the school-funding lawsuit will find that the state has complied with the Supreme Court order to address problems with the public schools. Argue, who championed Governor Huckabee's education plan during the special session, says he's looking forward to the court's review and he's pleased with the position the state is in. Argue agreed to a compromise after many legislators objected to Huckabee's call for consolidation of high schools in districts with fewer than 15-hundred students.
