Special masters start review

(February 23, 2004) — (Little Rock-AP) -- After legislators spent a record-long special session making changes to the public school system, two special masters appointed by the state Supreme Court begin their review today of the work the Legislature did. The court ruled in 2002 that the school-funding formula is unconstitutional and ordered the state to make changes by January First of this year. Attorneys in the Lake View School District case that resulted in the court ruling say the state hasn't done enough to ensure an adequate, equitable school system for all of Arkansas' children.
