Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 19, 2002) - The JBU women’s basketball team came into Monday night’s game against Oklahoma Baptist University on a roll, having won its last two games by more than ten points in each contest.
JBU couldn’t make it three. The Golden Eagles lost 87-75.
The first half saw both teams get out to a quick offensive start. OBU ended the first half with 48 points and JBU just five behind with 43. In the second half, the shooting cooled for both teams. In the end, costly turnovers took away any chance JBU had to win the game.
The leading scorer for OBU was junior forward Jadrea Seeley with 26 points. Senior guard Casi Cox attributed 17 points to OBU’s winning effort.
JBU was led by junior guard Lara Keeling, who scored 22 points, 18 of which came from three-pointers. Senior forward Sophie Voordeckers, playing her last game at home, finished her collegiate career with a double-double. Voordeckers scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Junior post Katie Elliot also scored 13 points for the Golden Eagles.
JBU is now 12-15 on the season and 4-12 in Sooner Athletic Conference competition. OBU owns a 23-6 season record and is 11-5 in SAC play.
Up next for the Golden Eagles is Southern Nazarene University, which is ranked second in the SAC with a 14-1 conference record.
