JBU Soccer Signs Louisiana Midfield, Forward and Defender
Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 10, 2002) — Wesley Chase, from Monroe, Louisiana, signed a letter of intent to play soccer at John Brown University. Chase is a 2001 first team All-State selection from St. Frederick High School and is experienced at performing at midfield, forward and defender positions.
Chase, a captain on his high school team for the past three years, made the semi-finals of the Louisiana State Championships during his freshman year and has won a state championship in 2000 with his club team, F.C. United. Chase also received All-District Honors over the three past years and led his high school team in assists during his junior and senior seasons.
“I’m very excited that Wesley has decided to attend JBU. He is a skillful player with experience at all of the field positions. He has made All-State Honors at two different positions, defender and midfielder, which will give us a lot of flexibility in deciding where he will help us the most. Wesley plays with a lot of energy, enthusiasm and speed. We will be counting on him to provide a spark to our goal scoring effort. Replacing three-time All-American senior Leo Peirano won’t be easy, but I know Wesley is up to the challenge,” said JBU soccer coach Bob Gustavson.
John Brown University is a private university with an enrollment of over 1,600 students from 45 states and 33 countries. JBU is a member of the Arkansas Independent Colleges and Universities as well as the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.
