JBU Volleyball Signs Colorado All-State Player
Siloam Springs, Ark (March 25, 2002) - Elisa Evans from Calhan, Colorado signed a letter of intent to play for John Brown University women’s volleyball. Evans, a six-foot middle hitter, was the captain and most valuable player at Evangelical Christian Academy High School in Colorado Springs.
Evans gained additional volleyball experience while playing for the Pikes Peak Club National team since the age of fourteen. Evans will participate in qualifying tournaments for the Junior Nationals held in July across the United States this spring.
Evans has been a starter on her high school squad for the past two years and was awarded most valuable player both seasons. During her senior year, Evans led her region in blocks and kills and received an All-State Honorable Mention award, a Champions 2002 nominee award and was named to the All Area First Team of Colorado Springs.
“Elisa is a great player who will provide immediate help to the middle for the Golden Eagles. We are very excited about Elisa joining our roster. She will provide powerful hitting from the middle and has great blocking skills. With the loss of All-American Amber Squires, Elisa will be counted on to contribute immediately. We feel that Elisa has the skills to make a valuable contribution to the team.” coach Robyn Gordon said.
Evans participated in Key Club, Student Council , and yearbook extracurricular activities at Evangelical Christian Academy. Evans was also vice president of the Spanish Club.
Evans is the daughter of David and Yvonne Evans of Calhan, Colorado. Evans said she plans to pursue an academic career in Physical and Occupational Therapy.
