SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (April 9, 2013) - The Golden Eagles suffered its second defeat of the season against NCAA II Arkansas Tech as the Golden Suns ran away with a 9-0 victory over John Brown today in Siloam Springs.
ATU jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles’ play, capturing identical 8-0 victories at the first and third doubles spots. The duo of Tiffany Prieb and Kellie Mowrer were the only ones to manage a point during doubles’ play, falling 8-1 to Arkansas Tech’s Maria Aleman and Camila Roca.
In singles’ play, ATU scored 6-0, 6-0 finals at four of the six matchups, including the top three spots. Prieb turned in the best performance of the day at No. 4, pushing Roca to a 6-2, 6-1 final before Krizana Saucedo managed to steal a point from Allison Grahl of the Golden Suns.
The loss sends the ladies to a 2-8 overall record. The Golden Eagles travel to Bartlesville, Okla., for a rematch against Oklahoma Wesleyan on Monday, April 15.
