85 percent of JBU students receive some form of financial aid. Most students receive more than one form of aid. Music major awards range from $500 to $5,000 and are renewable for a total of eight semesters. To retain the scholarship, students must maintain a 2.0 GPA each semester, a 3.0 GPA in the major applied area and a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Scholarships are reviewed and adjusted annually.
Academic and music scholarships, grants, loans and employment in the work-study program may all be included in the final financial aid award. These awards are given based on need and/or merit determined during the University Admission and Music Department Audition process.
In addition to scholarships for majors in the Music Department, we offer small renewable merit-based ensemble scholarships for all students for satisfactory participation. Ensemble scholarships are awarded on the basis of an audition with the ensemble director.
