What can I expect?

  • Complete Music Dept. audition process and be admitted into the degree program
  • Participate in an ensemble each semester
  • Attend various recitals on and off campus
  • Complete music courses including:
    • 4-8 semesters of private music lessons (piano, voice or instrument)
    • 4 semesters of piano for voice or instrumental concentrations
    • 1 or 2 semesters of voice (class or applied) for piano or instrumental concentrations
    • 5 semesters of music theory, form, and arranging
    • 3 semesters of musicianship (ear training)
    • 3 semesters of music literature and history
    • 1 semester of conducting
    • Perform either a 30 minute Senior recital or a Senior Presentation
  • Other music course offerings might include:
    • An additional semester of conducting or choral techniques
    • Vocal or piano pedagogy and literature
    • Survey of instruments
    • Worship Arts courses
    • Audio Technology
  • If pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in General Music, 4 semesters of foreign language, allowing a maximum of 18 hours additional course work of your own choosing.
  • If pursuing a Bachelor of Science in General Music, you can take a maximum of 30 hours additional course work of your own choosing.  Maybe business, psychology, counseling, theology…?.
