What can I expect?
- Complete Music Dept. audition process and be admitted into the degree program
- Participate in an ensemble each semester
- Attend various recitals on and off campus
- Complete music courses including:
- 4-8 semesters of private music lessons (piano, voice or instrument)
- 4 semesters of piano for voice or instrumental concentrations
- 1 or 2 semesters of voice (class or applied) for piano or instrumental concentrations
- 5 semesters of music theory, form, and arranging
- 3 semesters of musicianship (ear training)
- 3 semesters of music literature and history
- 1 semester of conducting
- Perform either a 30 minute Senior recital or a Senior Presentation
- Other music course offerings might include:
- An additional semester of conducting or choral techniques
- Vocal or piano pedagogy and literature
- Survey of instruments
- Worship Arts courses
- Audio Technology
- If pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in General Music, 4 semesters of foreign language, allowing a maximum of 18 hours additional course work of your own choosing.
- If pursuing a Bachelor of Science in General Music, you can take a maximum of 30 hours additional course work of your own choosing. Maybe business, psychology, counseling, theology…?.
