Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Music

Emphasis:

What Can I Expect?

B.A.  degree with emphasis in piano:

  • Complete Music Department audition process and be admitted into the degree program
  • Participate in an ensemble each semester
  • Attend various recitals on and off campus
  • Present a half recital during the junior year, and a full recital during the senior year
  • Complete music courses including:
    • 8 semesters of private piano lessons
    • 4 semesters of music theory
    • 3 semesters of musicianship (ear training)
    • 3 semesters of music history and literature
  • Piano specific related courses (piano literature, piano pedagogy, functional keyboard skills, accompanying class).
  • Complete the University Core curriculum (various courses in the liberal arts, Biblical studies, math and sciences, etc.)

B.A. degree with emphasis in voice:

  • Complete Music Department audition process and be admitted into the degree program
  • Participate in an ensemble each semester
  • Attend various recitals on and off campus
  • Present a half recital during the junior year, and a full recital during the senior year
  • Complete music courses including:
    • 8 semesters of private voice lessons
    • 4 semesters of music theory
    • 3 semesters of musicianship (ear training)
