Coming to Siloam Springs was like coming home for Dr. Essary; who grew up and attended school (K-8) not too far over the state line in Northeast Oklahoma. His own children’s interests in JBU played a part in his pursuing the opportunity at JBU. And, seeing the potential for growth in the Department of Kinesiology was a key factor in his interest to teach here as well.
He looks forward to the contribution he can make and the perspective he can bring to the Department of Kinesiology while participating in the revitalization of this important area of the university.
Dr. Essary is married to Susan and they have six children from 13 to 26 years old. Their two oldest children are married and out of the home. Dr. Essary’s oldest daughter has blessed him and his wife with their first grandchild. Three of their children at home will be attending JBU in the Fall of 2012 and the ‘baby’ of the family will be homeschooled. Dr. Essary did his undergraduate work at Stephen F. Austin State University. He attended East Texas State University for his graduate studies where he earned his M.S. and earned his doctorate from Texas A & M-Commerce as well.
When Dr. Essary is not teaching, grading, meeting, planning or working, he enjoys relaxing. Dr. Essary welcomes the many new opportunities and challenges that await him at JBU.
