Personal Information
Hi, my name is Ron Johnson. I've had the
pleasure of directing the Walton International Scholarship Program at
JBU for the past seven years. I'm the old guy with the young heart in
the International office and the guy with the "unusual " office.
Stop by and check it out!
Before coming to JBU I was a missionary engineer/administrator with
HCJB in Quito, Ecuador for seven years. During our time in Ecuador we
adopted Anna who is Quichua. Prior to Ecuador my family and I lived
on the island of Bonaire in the Netherlands, Antilles for eight years.
My wife and our three children learned to love the sea doing lots of
snorkeling and scuba diving. I worked as a missionary engineer for Trans
World Radio.
Early in my life I spent two years living in South Korea and during
that period of my life I really learned to love cultural diversity.
That's one of the most exciting things about my job; getting to interact
with all kinds of cultures. It's great! Having four children growing
up overseas while we were missionaries has made me sensitive to the
special issues and needs international young people face. In fact, I
consider it a real blessing each time I'm able to help one of our international
students.
I along with my three oldest children are graduates of JBU. I have a
graduate degree in counseling and engineering and am working on my doctorate
in engineering management.
It's my prayer that I'll be used of God to help each of you during your
journey at JBU. Please receive my warmest invitation to come and visit
me!
