Semester in Ireland

Offered Fall Semester

Cost: JBU Semester (JBU tuition, room and board, and financial aid apply)

Additional Costs: Airfare (approximately $1000), a $100 application fee, books, and independent study fee (if applicable).

Study for a semester in Ireland and see why the Irish pride themselves on their local identity and traditions. Discover why the Irish are known world wide for their warm hospitality and sociable lifestyle. You will be living in the seaside village of Dundrum. “A contemplative setting” best describes this wee village, and it is a perfect spot from which to work during your course of study in Ireland. Belfast is 40 minutes north while Dublin is 2 hours south. Both cities act as gateways to Europe. So during your Fall Break, hop on a boat or plane and take that trip of a lifetime to France, Spain, or Italy.
Dundrum is known for its scenic beauty; it lies quietly at the foothills of the Mountains of Mourne. The Mountains of Mourne have been sung about for generations. Here is a verse taken from the song Don McLean made popular.

Oh, Mary, this London's a wonderful sight
With people here working by day and by night
They don't sow potatoes nor barley nor wheat
But there's gangs of them diggin' for gold in the street
At least when I asked them, that's what I was told
So I just took a hand at this diggin' for gold
But for all that I've found there, I might as well be
In the place where the dark Mourne sweeps down to the sea
