Mechanical/Renewable Energy Engineering

Position

 

John Brown University seeks a faculty member in a combined position of Mechanical and Renewable Energy Engineering. Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching courses engineering areas such as machine design, material sciences, fluid mechanics, renewable energy sciences, renewable capstone design, wind energy, and/or solar energy. Specific courses will be determined to match individual backgrounds and divisional needs. Other responsibilities include advising students, supervision of senior design projects, writing of grant proposals, and serving on University committees.

Program

 

The Department of Engineering offers an ABET accredited engineering program with electrical/computer, mechanical and renewable energy concentrations. The Engineering Department strives to educate students in the application of science and technology to the service of God and humanity with the goal of producing graduates who can begin effective engineering practice in industry, graduate school, or the mission field. The Department of Engineering is housed within the Division of Engineering and Construction Management. The Division offers Bachelor of Science Degrees in engineering, renewable energy, and construction management. Engineering is a growing major with a new 40,000 square foot, state of the art, LEED certified facility which opened in fall 2011.

Qualifications

 

Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, preferred. Masters required. Renewable energy research background/passion desired. Effective teaching experience, evidence of scholarly potential and a passion for teaching and spiritual formation within the evangelical tradition is essential. Candidates should be willing to contribute to university life in areas such as academic advising, recruiting for the major, and committee service. The candidate should also be able to clearly articulate the integration of the Christian faith and engineering.

Salary

 A competitive salary exists which will be commensurate with training and/or experience.
