M.A.in Ministry partnership with the Kanakuk Institute

John Brown University has partnered with the Kanakuk Institute to provide a 36-hour Master of Arts degree in Ministry. You can select from six emphases in order to get a degree that will fit your calling in ministry best.  Complete your degree at your own pace by taking courses online during Kankakuk Institute, or up to three years after completing the institute.

By focusing on biblical, theological, and ministry studies, you will gain a practical focus that will help you to equip and mobilize others to worship, evangelize, and disciple.  By having this varied background, you will have an increased understanding of the role of Biblical and theological content in spiritual formation, as well as a theological orientation in order to prepare you for work within a ministry.


This program is a 36-hour graduate degree program consisting of three components:

  • 12 hours based on completion of the Kanakuk Institute
  • A 12-hour Ministry Core which is completed during Kanakuk Institute as a seamlessly integrated part of the KI experience. This includes 6 hours through two intensive courses offered on the campus of JBU, one in the fall and one in the spring. The other  6 hours are a part of KI seminars and activities and include online activities and assignments.
  • A 12-hour emphasis in one of the six areas listed above, which are completed via distance learning within 3 years after completing Kanakuk Institute.
