Working through the higher education program at John Brown University was an enriching experience both professionally and personally. I learned more about who I am and how God has called me to serve in higher education.
After completion of the JBU Higher Education program, I was able to move from an entry-level job in student affairs to a mid-level role. I have always loved working with college students, and this program gave me tools to do that more successfully and to grow in my ability to equip new professionals to do the same.
The online format made it possible for me to continue in my employment at a higher education institution while earning a degree that would help me take the next steps in my career. I was able to learn from experts in the field without having to sacrifice my current employment to live near the campus. Instructors did a great job connecting with me even though I was not sitting in a classroom with them.
Balancing family life, full-time work, and a graduate degree is difficult, but I felt like I was a part of the JBU family through the process. JBU faculty and staff cared about my growth in the classroom, as a professional, and, most importantly, as a follower of Christ. Every class forced me to ask, "How does Christ call me to live/serve/lead in this situation?"
