Immunization Requirements

The Arkansas Department of Health requires all graduate students to submit proof of having received one dose of the MMR vaccination. There are four types of acceptable records showing the date the MMR was received: 1) a doctor's record signed by a physician, 2) school immunization records, 3) military immunization records, or 4) a record from the state's health department. Documentation needs to be received within thirty days after acceptance into a graduate program.

Application Status

Once you have submitted your application and application fee, you will receive confirmation emails from JBU. Your file is complete upon receipt of the application, application fee, official transcripts, letters of recommendation, essay, and if necessary, the official entrance exam score report. Your admission file will then be sent to your program director for review and action before being sent to the dean of the Graduate School for final approval and acceptance. Students are admitted to graduate study under one of the following statuses:

  • Regular Status. Admission to Regular Status requires an undergraduate grade point average of 2.7 or higher (4.0=A) and fulfillment of entrance exam requirement.
  • Provisional Status. An applicant who does not meet all of the criteria for regular admission status but demonstrates potential for success in a graduate program may be admitted under provisional status. Appropriate graduate credit earned while in this status will apply toward fulfilling degree requirements. If the applicant satisfactorily completes the first 12 semester hours with at least a 2.85 cumulative grade point average and receives the recommendation of the program director, regular status will be granted; otherwise, the student will be dismissed.

You may contact your graduate program representative for any additional information.
