Dean Boyer brings extensive management and teaching experience to the classroom. In addition to working in the insurance industry, Dr. Boyer has spent 30 years in education as a high school teacher, administrator and elementary school principal. He was also a superintendent for Lighthouse Christian School in Gig Harbor, Washington. Since coming to Arkansas in 2008, he has served an interim year in JBU's College of Education and as an adjunct instructor for JBU's Graduate Business Division as well as for for NWACC. In addition to his college teaching, he has pastored First Christian Church of Siloam Springs since 2009.
Dr. Boyer's management experience includes leading a 50-employee business, directing complex projects from concept to fully operational status, solving problems, and finding effective ways to work in unison with staff, volunteers and a board of directors. He also brings a solid international perspective to the classroom after having traveled extensively and living in Taiwan for eleven years.
Dr. Boyer has been commended in Who’s Who in American Education (1989) and has presented at conferences for the Indiana Association for Education of Young Children (1989), the Association of Christian Schools International, East Asia Regional Conference of Overseas Schools and the Missionary Conference for Overseas Schools. He has also been a seminar leader for the Drug Proof Your Kids program (Focus on the Family), 5 Languages of Appreciation for the Workplace and The Truth Project (Focus on the Family). He is the author of Teaching with Aloha and From Why to Worship and is considering co-writing a book with his best friend entitled Prayers for the Journey.
Dr. Boyer teaches Christian Foundations for Organizational Leaders and Emotional Health in Organizations.
