Simmons Great Hall
In 2013, JBU dedicated the $6.5 million Simmons Great Hall, JBU's new "front door" and a premier venue for elaborate banquets, conferences, business meetings, lectures or weddings. JBU has hosted over 16,000 guests in the Simmons Great Hall since its opening and is an incredible resource for both JBU and the greater Northwest Arkansas community.
Discover the impact of the Simmons Great Hall on the NWA community
Built in 1973 when there were 435 students, the Kresge Dining Hall had become extremely congested in 2012, serving almost triple the size of the 1973 student body. The Simmons Great Hall now provides overflow space for the nearly 1,000 students who dine on campus daily.
With flexible space, the hall has become a go-to place for community businesses and organizations to host meetings, conferences and dinners.
Meeting Space for JBU Programs
Whether it's all-staff meetings, student events or hosting special speakers, the hall gives the JBU community valuable meeting space.
Regional & National Conference Center
Whether a celebration of the arts for area high school students like Giving Voice or the CCCU Conference for university chief finance officers or the Paradosis Center Conference, JBU now has the facilities to host large groups on campus like never before.
Alumni & Parent Engagement
Simmons Great Hall now lends a sophisticated air to annual events like the Homecoming Alumni Dinner and Family Weekend where hundreds of alumni and parents experience JBU.
Approximately 600 prospective students and their parents attend 10 Preview Day events each school year. Simmons Great Hall provides the meeting and dining space to help make their first JBU experience great.
Honors Advisor/Co-Curricular Coordinator
“I appreciate the versatility of the Simmons Great Hall. We’ve held everything from campus-wide dances to intimate talkback sessions, and every time it has been the perfect environment to facilitate the learning, growing and community-building we so value at JBU.”
Coordinator of University Events
“JBU has hosted hundreds of events, sometimes several simultaneously, that we never had the capacity to do before the Simmons Great Hall opened. We are so thankful for the relationships and community we are able to build through the hall.”
President/CEO of the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce
“The Simmons Great Hall has filled a void in meeting space that our community desperately needed. John Brown University is now - more than ever - a wonderful gathering place for school, civic club, Chamber of Commerce, public and private events, and it has clearly become the favorite place to gather.”
