The Charles H. Stout Foundation created the Ross and Fran Stout Endowed Nursing Scholarship in honor or Ross and Fran Stout. Ross attended the University of Arkansas and graduated from the LSU School of Banking. He was a banker for more than 50 years, serving as president of Arkansas State Bank in Siloam Springs from 1971-94. Fran worked 18 years as a bookkeeper, 9 years with Prudential and 9 years with Cox Communications. She was also President of the Siloam Springs Hospital Auxiliary.
Many civic and nonprofit groups benefited from Ross’ leadership and generosity. He was a member of the Arkansas Independent Bankers Association and served as its president in 1992-93. He also served as the director for Arkansas in the Independent Bankers Association of America from 1986-94. He was proud to share with Cookson Hills Youth Ranch, Life Styles Inc. and John Brown University as a board member of the Charles H. Stout Foundation. He was a life member of the Springdale Jaycees and was awarded its Distinguished Service Award in 1966. He was a member of Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce, serving as its president in 1973 and receiving the Pioneer Citizen Award in 2003. He was on the board of directors for The Main Street in Siloam Springs.
Ross and his wife, Fran, played on many beautiful golf courses in their travels throughout the United States. Ross and Fran were faithful members of First Christian Church in Siloam Springs. They had been married 64 years when Ross passed away in 2013. Together, they have three children: Michael, Charles and Donna.
