Jeanne and Elbert Hubbard Endowed Scholarship
Donor: Jeanne Hubbard
This scholarship was created in honor of Elbert Hubbard. Elbert Hubbard, an electrical engineering graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, had a career in his field spanning nearly forty years. He was registered as a professional engineer in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. During his career years, Elbert made suggestions that led to innovations and improvements in the electrical field. He had extensive experience in designing substations and high voltage transmission lines. His wife, Jeanne, was working in engineering when they met, but her career field was in teaching after she earned an M.A. in education from the University of Iowa. Their marriage in 1950 united an upstate New York man and a native Iowan. Their two daughters live in New Jersey and Wyoming. Their son died in 2002. Elbert died in 2005 just a few weeks before their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary. Jeanne created this scholarship to honor Elbert and to help JBU students who are pursuing an education in electrical engineering.
