$20 Million Challenge

Scholarships

An endowed scholarship is a scholarship fund created and named by a donor and administered by the university in accordance with guidelines established together by the donor and the university. Endowed Scholarships live on in perpetuity, distributing funds to deserving students year after year. The funds given to the university are invested, and 5 percent of the five-year average market value of the funds is awarded to students in the form of annual scholarships.

Donors have the freedom to name a new scholarship, or they can support a previously established scholarship. Donors are also free to establish the criteria for the scholarship, with certain exceptions. The minimum criteria for any endowed scholarship to be included in the Challenge are that student recipients have:

  • Good character
  • Financial Need
  • A minimum ACT test score of 21 or a cumulative JBU GPA of 2.5

Marissa Chang, History Major"My experience at JBU has produced growth in every area of my life. As a Resident Advisor, I have met my best friends and a staff that truly desires to work for the student's best - students who are here because of generous supporters. Their giving is not only a kind gift, but also an investment in the preparation of young people like me to bring about God's kingdom on earth. I am truly grateful for their kindness, because my education would not have been possible without it."
