Faculty Excellence Program
John Brown University’s faculty continues to grow in size and quality. Further growth and excellence at JBU is inextricably intertwined with the professional growth and development of its faculty.
The Faculty Excellence Program exists to provide opportunities for quality research and scholarship, motivated and informed by a Christian perspective. The program provides contract extensions and expense stipends to support the faculty member in his or her unique scholarly efforts, often during the summer months.
"Each summer, I spend about two months with family in Eagle River, Alaska, a town about 20 miles from Anchorage. There is a surprising number of research facilities in the Anchorage area, including a branch of the National Archives. My academic work in Alaska focuses on the place of the far northwest within the context of the American Empire, in the years 1898-1941. Three out of four books from this research have been published by the University of Alaska Press. The funds I was awarded by JBU made this research possible."
