Director of Discipleship
The Office of Christian Formation leads the JBU community in opportunities for corporate worship, discipleship, service, and witness. A key part in providing these opportunities comes from formation initiatives, which encourage growth through the practice of spiritual disciplines.
The Director of Discipleship plays a key role in these formation initiatives. The director mentors student ministry leaders and has the opportunity to work with hundreds of JBU students in a variety of ministry settings including:
- small group Bible studies
- outreach and evangelism ministries
- men’s ministry
The Director of Discipleship position received initial funding through a four-year grant that is not renewable. Because of the tremendous effect that the Director of Discipleship and the Student Ministries Leadership Team are having on the JBU community, JBU and the anonymous donor to the $20 Million Challenge want to encourage alumni and friends to endow this program so that it can continue to foster spiritual growth in the student body.
"I love my job! I have the wonderful opportunity to walk with students in a variety of ways every day. College may be one of the most critical junctures in these students' lives. It will be a place where they will make some of the best friends of their lives, choose vocations, possibly find a spouse, finally become an adult, hear clearly God's call on their life, and make their faith their own. Each day I get to develop students as leaders, mentor them to be strong Christian adults, and disciple them to be whole-hearted followers of Christ."
