Partnership with Airo

Airo is a flight school based in Springdale, Arkansas. Through this partnership with JBU, you can earn a four-year degree in aviation and complete your pilot training at their facility in Springdale.

What can you do with a professional flight degree?

Commercial Airline Pilot

Fly for major or regional airlines, transporting passengers and cargo across domestic and international routes while adhering to safety and operational standards.

Corporate Pilot

Operate private jets or chartered aircraft for businesses, executives and private clients, providing flexible and customized flight solutions.

Missionary Pilot

Missionary pilots use their talents to share the gospel with isolated people in remote locations. 

Key professional flight courses*

Primary Flight I

This course provides a comprehensive study of the fundamentals of flight, covering key topics such as aerodynamics, aircraft systems, weight and balance, charts, navigation, flight planning, regulations, and weather.

Commercial Flight I

This course provides a comprehensive study of advanced flight concepts, including aircraft performance, advanced aircraft systems, weather, and regulations related to commercial flight operations. The course prepares students for the Commercial Stage Check Knowledge Test. The course includes 50 hours of flight training.

Multi Engine

This course provides flight training focused on developing the skills required to become a commercial multi-engine rated pilot. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be recommended for the practical test to obtain the multi-engine rating on their Commercial Pilot Certificate.

Soderquist College of Business Core - on-campus or online

Professional flight students will take core classes from the Soderquist College of Business, highlighting the importance of general business knowledge (e.g., accounting, management, and marketing) and effective communication skills. This can be taken as an on-campus undergraduate or JBU Online student. 

*Aviation course fees & flight costs are charged in addition to JBU tuition.
