In this workshop we will focus on one of the crucial jobs of poetry: creating strong images that stick in a reader’s mind and convey ideas.

DRAMA Readers Theater

If you are interested in acting, come and try Readers Theater, which is a dramatic presentation of a written work in a script form. Readers read from a script, so there is no memorization. The focus is on reading the text with expressive voices and gestures. Participants will work on characterization, facial expressions, and use of inflection. A few participants will be selected to present a sample of Readers Theater in the showcase in the afternoon. Workshop is limited to 10 participants.
DRAMA Improvisation

In “Drama I: Intro to Improvisational Theatre and Other Scary Things”, all participants will be encouraged to exercise their creativity within through drama games and improvised settings. Presentation will be improvisational within framework decided by instructor and will include all participants. Workshop is limited to 15 participants.
ART Wire Drawing

An introduction to working with wire as a drawing medium. During this session, students will receive a presentation and demonstration on wire and spend the rest of the time working hands-on with the wire. The student can expect to leave the classroom with a wire drawing.
ART Calligraphy

A brief introduction to lettering followed by a hands-on workshop in which we will work on Gothic letterforms utilizing flat-nib calligraphy pens, traditional turkey-feather quills, and cheap foam brushes from the hardware store
ART Plaster Molding
Neil Ward
A hands-on workshop that introduces the fundamentals of life-molding through a plaster molding process. The end of the workshop will be a mold from which we will be able to create a solid reproduction from your hand!
