Yesterday was a great day, as Jennifer and I joined the new JBU freshmen for "Day of Caring." The annual project, which pairs freshmen orientation groups with local non-profit organizations, allows new students the opportunity to serve their new community.

My group worked at the Genesis House, a day shelter in Siloam Springs for the homeless and near-homeless. They provide a place for people in need to do laundry, get a nutritious meal, and receive other assistance. I was humbled by the generosity of spirit that I saw on display in the hearts of our freshmen. They had great attitudes about trimming trees, painting, and clearing brush because they knew they were helping others and serving their God.
