Learn more about Arkansas immunization requirements
The Arkansas Department of Health requires John Brown University to document that incoming students have met the state's immunization requirement. Degree Completion Program students are required to provide documentation of having received one (1) dose of the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination. (Note: this requirement does not apply to students enrolled only in online courses.)
To comply with state law, JBU must have a record of MMR immunizations for all students born after January 1, 1957. JBU accepts four types of records with the dates in which the immunization was received:
1) A doctor's record signed by the physician
2) School immunization records
3) Military immunization records
4) A record from the state health department
Students may apply for a medical, religious, or philosophical exemption from the vaccination through the Arkansas Department of Health. Forms may be requested via email, or you may call (501) 661-2169 with questions.
Immunization records or approved exemption must be received prior to enrollment.
Students attending classes online only are not required to comply with this requirement.
